Saturday's schedule of Pac-12 football games has a low-key feel, but that's not to say the games will be uninteresting. Start with a forecast of 50 mph winds at Oregon State's Reser Stadium for Utah's visit, mix in the recent struggles of Stanford and Notre Dame and consider that Arizona State and Colorado are fighting to stay in prime contention for the Pac-12 South title, and you have some level of intrigue. On to the picks:   USC at Arizona, 1:30 p.m. MDT, Fox The Trojans are beginning to assert themselves in the South, although they hardly were overwhelming in a 21-17 win over Colorado last weekend. Arizona is just too beaten up to Bear Down against USC, however. USC 35, Arizona 21.   Utah at Oregon State, 2 p.m. MDT, Pac-12 Networks The windy, rainy weather creates all kinds of variables in this one, especially with Utah's uncertain staffing of the running back position. The Beavers are coming off a 474-yard rushing effort vs. California, but won't have anything resembling that degree of success against Utah's defense. Even if the conditions keep Troy Williams from passing effectively, the Utes are too strong for the Beavers. Utah 31, Oregon State 21.   Stanford at Notre Dame, 5:30 p.m. MDT, NBC This looked like a game with College Football Playoff implications as of a month ago, but things have changed. Both teams are reeling. My unwavering belief in Stanford is gone. Notre Dame 21, Stanford 20.   Arizona State at Colorado, 6 p.m. MDT, Pac-12 Networks These picks were easier in the days when Colorado also was expected to lose. The Buffaloes keep playing good football, even when they lose. ASU's defense was impressive vs. UCLA, but Colorado is better staffed with quarterbacks than UCLA, with Josh Rosen going in and out of the game last week. Colorado 35, Arizona State 28.   UCLA at Washington State, 8:30 p.m. MDT, ESPN Rosen's status is in doubt, and if he's unable to play at full strength, the Bruins will be in trouble. WSU quarterback Luke Falk is shredding opposing defenses. UCLA will provide some resistance, but unless Rosen is healthy and gets hot, the Bruins won't be able to keep up with the Cougars. Washington State 31, UCLA 24.  – Kurt Kragthorpe
