Memorial Day weekend is always a busy one in the Sanpete County towns of Ephraim and Spring City.

Ephraim hosts Scandinavian Days on Friday and Saturday, while Spring City's Heritage Days Celebration runs both those days as well.

Ephraim's event includes a parade, fun runs, mountain bike race, old world booths, a Scandinavian dinner, craft and food booths, a heritage conference and entertainment that includes music, story-telling, dance and period costumes.

Spring City's Heritage Days celebration opens with a special preview Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. that is an art and antiques sale.

Saturday's event includes breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. at the City Park, an Art Squared and Silent Auction, an Art, Antiques and Craft Sale, a pioneer homes tour and a lunch.

A highlight is the nearly complete renovation of Historic Spring City's old school, which will be a community center that is expected to be ready for occupants this fall.

Some 50 buildings in Spring City have been restored. The town has been designated as a national historic district. Home tours are a highlight of Heritage Day.
