Directions » The trailhead is located just south of the Bountiful Temple at 640 S. Bountiful Blvd. There is a small parking lot available.

About the hike • The trail begins with a steep slope down from the parking lot, where you'll find the Holbrook Creek that will serve as your hiking companion. The trail takes you over the creek several times, at first with small bridges and fallen logs — though later on, you'll be boulder-hopping and getting your feet wet.

Holbrook Canyon's pine trees provide shade for much of the hike, though the trail occassionally takes you up above the trees for a glimpse of the forested canyon. The views are inspiring, but back below the treetops, the new yellow glacier lilies that dot the trail provide a daintier sort of beauty.

The creek, though, is the highlight of the trip, as it fills the air with the energetic sounds of its cold, rushing water, and the joyful splashing of its many small waterfalls.

When I hiked the canyon on Tuesday, snowpack forced me to turnaround just shy of 2.5 miles in. To leave, simply retrace your steps to the parking lot.
