The Aggies have overcome so many odds to keep their hopes of playing in the MWC title game alive, it would be a shame for them to see those hopes end tonight against San Jose State.

The Aggies should have plenty of manpower to beat the Spartans, who are coming off a 13-0 loss to Hawaii. Furthermore, it sounds like quarterback Joe Gray may not play since he was banged up in that game and didn't practice earlier in the week. If he doesn't go, senior Blake Jurich, who started three games earlier in the season, will go in his place.

So what do the Aggies need to do to get a win? Here are a few points.

1. Keep the ball on the ground. The Aggies' offensive line played well in the 28-21 win over New Mexico and was able to convert third downs late in the game. More of the same tonight would let the Aggies control the game and the clock, leaving the Spartans' offense with fewer chances to burn the Aggies with big passing plays.

2. Get after the QB. Whether it is Gray or Jurich, the Aggies need to continue what they've been doing and keep pressure on the quarterback. If he doesn't get set, he'll have a hard time passing against the Aggies. Jurich is 52-of-81 for 629 yards and five touchdowns along with four interceptions. Sounds like the Aggies might have a chance at a few more turnovers.

3. Respect running back Tyler Ervin's talent. Ervin has 701 yards rushing on 119 carries, but he is also a solid receiver with 28 catches for 298 yards. The Aggies need to play assignment sound football and wrap him up when they get the chance to avoid giving up any big plays.

Do all that and the Aggies should be on their way to a win, you agree?
