Olenberger (6-1), who became the second league pitcher to reach six wins, scattered four hits and allowed two runs with six strikeouts and one walk as the Pacific Northern Bees (26-20) won their third straight against the Pacific Southern-leading River Cats (27-19). Olenberger gave up a pair of solo homers, and Greg Jones worked two scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.
Evans drove in a run with a second inning fielder's choice and a fourth inning double, while Smith had a two run double in the sixth. Adam Pavkovich, Nathan Haynes, Brandon Wood and Matt Brown had two hits each for Salt Lake. Haynes and Pavkovich also had an RBI apiece.
Briefly: The Bees activated catcher Ryan Budde from the disabled list and returned catcher Ben Johnson to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. The Bees also announced infielder Howie Kendrick has completed his rehab assignment and was recalled by the Los Angeles Angels.
Budde had appeared in five games with Salt Lake, batting .188, before injuring his right hamstring.
