Yes, you can hit a beach in Utah on Saturday for International Coastal Cleanup day

(Al Hartmann | The Salt Lake Tribune) Signs of the Great Salt Lake's low water level is evident at the Great Salt Lake Marina State Park in this 2016 file photo.

It may seem strange for Wasatch Front residents to be asked to celebrate International Coastal Cleanup day Saturday.

But there are two events for the day planned and volunteers are needed for both.

One will be held from 9 a.m. until noon at the Great Salt Lake Marina.

Sign up at www.fogsl.org or contact Holly Simonsen at snowyegret@fogsl.org.

The other is scheduled at Utah Lake, 4700 Lincoln Beach Road in Spanish Fork, from 8 a.m. until noon. Be prepared to get dirty by wearing boots or sturdy shoes, long pants, long-sleeve shirt, hat, sunscreen and bug spray. Gloves, trash bags and water bottles will be provided. You can sign up in person. For questions, call Sam Braegger at the Utah Lake Commission at 801-851-2904.
