A sense of place: "A Sense of Place," an exhibition of recent artwork by Candice Eisenfeld and Thea Schrack, opens Friday with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Julie Nester Gallery, 1755 B Bonanza Drive, Park City. Holiday show: Handcrafted work by more than 60 artists in a multitude of styles and materials will grace the Salt Lake City Arts Council's annual Holiday Craft Exhibit & Sale, opening Friday at the Art Barn, 54 Finch Lane (1400 East), Salt Lake City. The public is invited to an opening reception Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. The show will be open daily from 1 to 7 p.m. through Dec. 17. Works include Joseph Wagner's lathe-turned wooden ornaments, Paul Heath's nostalgic images of Salt Lake in greeting cards and ceramic wall hangings, and Anne Carroll Gilmour's woven hats, scarves and placemats.
Gallery stroll: The Salt Lake Gallery Association will hold a special Holiday Gallery Stroll on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Galleries will stay open late for browsers to meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and do some shopping. Odgen's best: Art by many of Ogden's best-known artists will be shown at the Eccles Community Art Center's annual Holiday Invitational Exhibit, opening Friday with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Among the style of work on display will be oils, pastels, soft sculptures, wood-turned vases and Christmas-themed bags. Art at the library: Two new shows open Saturday at the fourth-floor gallery inside the Main Library, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City. "Contact" features photographs by Christine Baczek, while "Dancing with Pattern and Color" showcases hand-woven textiles by John Hess. Both shows continue through Jan. 13. An opening reception is Saturday from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
