The Kimball Art Center in Park City is honoring Utah's growing Latino population with "Arte Latino," an annual group exhibition of works by the state's leading Latin artists. The show opened Saturday and will run through April 21 at the center, 638 Park Ave., near the base of Main Street in Park City. The show features colorful works by 15 Utah Latino artists in a variety of media. In addition to three galleries full of artwork, the center will offer Latino-themed art programs for children and adults during the run of the show. This community outreach program has three major components: l
Local elementary-school children will tour the "Arte Latino" exhibit and participate in a related art project designed by a Latino artist.
Each week during "Arte Latino," the center will offer "Family Art Saturday," a day of free food, music and Latino-themed art activities for children and adults alike.
The Kimball also is accepting donations to help provide Latino children with scholarships to attend the art center's after-school art classes. The program costs $165 for teens and $95 for 6- to 12-year-olds.
