From Caesar to the Gods

The Salt Lake Symphony announces "From Caesar to the Gods!" On the bill are Edward Elgar's "Empire March," Mozart's Symphony No. 41 ("Jupiter") and Respighi's "The Pines of Rome." Conductor Robert Baldwin will give a lecture on the music and its cultural influences at 6:15 p.m. in room 270.

Piano man

Utah State University's 2010 Wassermann Festival comes to and end with a performance by renowned jazz pianist Bill Mays. For parts of the show, he will be joined by bass player Aaron Miller and drummer Jay Lawrence. Mays will also give a master class March 23 at 12:30 p.m. in the Performance Hall. Admission is $10, free for students.

Let down your hair

The Amelia Piano Trio announces two concerts, "A Hair Affair," for all audiences, and "Famous Voices, Hidden Classics," for children and adults. The trio is violinist/violist Anthea Kreston, cellist Jason Duckles and pianist Reiko Aizawa. The trio is dedicated to keeping concerts engaging and accessible to audiences of every background. "A Hair Affair" will feature the music and lives of some of the most hair-impaired composers through cartoons and musical examples. In "Famous Voices, Hidden Classics," the trio will share some relatively unknown pieces of very well-known composers, including Debussy's Piano Trio in G Minor, Bernstein's Trio and Chopin's Piano Trio in G Minor, Opus 8.
