Pat Bagley's politically inspired artwork is on display at the Loge Gallery during the run of the Pioneer Theatre Company's "Noises Off." Bagley is the political cartoonist for The Salt Lake Tribune. His work has appeared in Time magazine, the Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times and London's The Guardian.

is filled with art
When the Carolyn Tanner Irish Building at the University of Utah opened earlier this month, it offered a tremendous surprise for the visual arts community. The building contains permanent installations of art by Pilar Pobil, Ann Watson, Ray King, Ruby Chacon, Mikel Covey and Alvin Gittins. The $11.3 million building was designed by the architectural firm of Cooper Roberts Simonsen. The approximately 500,000-square-foot steel, glass and brick structure has ample windows for viewing art.

Israel at 60
Israel, always the subject of controversy, is the focus of a new show at the Salt Lake City-County Building. It was funded, in part, by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Tanner Humanities Center, the Utah Humanities Council and the Salt Lake City Arts Council. The exhibit, a collection of historic photographs from the archives of the Magnum Photos agency, is presented in partnership between Mayor Ralph Becker's office and the United Jewish Federation of Utah. Additional programming includes lectures by Michael T. Benson on Oct. 22 at 7:45 p.m.; Jacob Dayan, Israel consul general on Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m., curator Michael Mattis on Nov. 7 at 4:30 p.m.; and photographer Kent Miles on Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. The lectures are in various locations in the building, so check www.ujfslc.org for details.
