Logan Mayor Randy Watts has postponed the swearing-in ceremony for the man appointed to become the city's police chief.

The Tuesday delay came after a 2007 video surfaced on YouTube that shows then-Vernal Police Chief Gary Jensen giving his police nunchakus to a civilian, who then strikes another person with the person's consent.

Watts has said he has no problem with the video. But questions and confusion developed Tuesday over whether the Vernal City Council had seen the video and determined it was not a problem.

City Councilwoman Tami Pyfer said she pushed to postpone the swearing-in. She later said that after speaking to Jensen she no longer had any reservations about his appointment.

Watts also says he stands by Jensen.

Jensen has said the video is doctored. But he also says it was a mistake to give the weapon to civilians.
