Lungs trump jobs

When I read letters like John L. Anderson's "Jobs trump clean air" (Forum, April 6), I have to remind myself that everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how ludicrous. Anderson wrote that jobs created by a new power plant near St. George were far more important than any negative impact to air quality the plant will likely cause.

How can anyone say that creating jobs in our downturning economy is more important than healthy lungs? The majority of us will not sit by and let the John Andersons of the world continue to destroy the air we breathe and the water we drink just so he or his friends can get a job. There are plenty of jobs to be had in clean, energy-producing endeavors, which should be the complete focus of this state and this country.

Please, smell the dirty air - no more environmentally deadly energy producers! It's not just jobs anymore.
