Disgusting remark

The remark by Sen. Chris Buttars, R-West Jordan, before the state Senate referring to a "black baby" being "a dark and ugly thing" was the most disgusting thing I have ever heard uttered in Utah politics ("Buttars' comment leads to rebuke and apology," Tribune, Feb. 13). It was not just a "breach of decorum," it was a breach of human decency. It was offensive and racist.

I am the father of a multi-racial family living in Utah, and I know from long experience that such attitudes do not reflect the vast majority of this state.

Why does his constituency continue to burden the rest of us with Sen. Buttars?

If it were possible to recall a state senator, now would be the time.
