No one understands

Didn't we vote English the language to be spoken in Utah? Why is it then, wherever I go, no one understands me when I ask questions at a supermarket, retail store, motel or fast food restaurant?

I was recently in a clothing store standing in line while the two cashiers chatted away in their language while they checked out customers. Drive-through fast food employees rarely get my order correct because they don't speak enough English to understand my order.

Hotel maids don't respond to room requests because they don't speak English.

This has really gotten out of hand. It seems English is not spoken any more in America - or at least in Utah where English is the preferred language. Why was it on a ballot if no one respects what the people of Utah voted?
