I resent the attitude of Sen. Orrin Hatch and others who assume that because I don't have insurance I am a low-life. Until the end of 2005 I had health insurance. Because of ever-increasing costs, my employer of 15 years dropped insurance. One week later, I was hit by a bald-tired dump truck. Now, with hardware in my neck, I am uninsurable.
No one else has ever paid for my care. I not only pay for my medical bills, but I get charged three times what insurance companies pay for the same procedures, even though I pay cash. I have worked hard all my life. Now, I can't get insurance, and if I could it would be so expensive I couldn't afford it. The system has failed me.
Hatch will never have to worry about insurance. We, the taxpayers, pay for his care. So why does Hatch want to protect insurance companies to the detriment of the people? Hatch and his cronies don't seem to care that millions of their constituents are driven to bankruptcy by medical bills. They are more interested in political posturing and doing anything in their power to thwart President Barack Obama.
