Sins cast long shadows

When men like Rep. Carl Wimmer, R-Herriman, and Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff make decisions regarding the safety of the citizenry of Utah with no more thought than they apparently put into this Rick Koerber debacle, they shouldn't be in office ("A.G. denies political pressure swayed Koerber case," Tribune , May 30).

Both men have been trying to distance themselves from Koerber's misconduct in running a massive Ponzi scheme, but that won't be easy. Old sins cast long shadows, and unfortunately Wimmer and Shurtleff were too shortsighted to see them.

Speaking of seeing things, when will we see an impartial and nonpartisan investigation into the roles these two stewards of the public trust played in letting Koerber bilk and rob the good people of this state out of millions of dollars? We'll see the Second Coming first.
