I'm tired of e-mails, jokes and newspaper articles complaining about illegal aliens. I'm tired of wasting money to build fences and pay an ineffective police force.

The illegal alien problem can be solved very quickly: Jail any employer who hires an illegal immigrant. For the most part, illegal immigrants come here to earn more than they can earn in their country of origin. Take away this opportunity, and most will leave and fewer will come. It's an issue of demand creating supply.

The people who hire illegal immigrants know full well what they are doing. There are places to check the legality of immigrants, and if there is any question, just don't hire. Anything else is just an excuse.

Beating up and deporting illegal immigrants does nothing to solve the problem. The incentive is too great for them not to try to return. If we really need these people in our workforce, then the immigration laws need to be changed to allow more individuals to enter the country legally.

It is time to quit kidding ourselves. Quit beating up on the illegals and go after the true cause of the problem - the employers.
