Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. announced new appointments to the Advisory Councils of the state Office of Ethnic Affairs.

There are four Ethnic Advisory Councils: the Asian, Black, Hispanic-Latino and Pacific Islander councils. Each council has 11 to 15 members.

"The Office of Ethnic Affairs is very excited about the new members of our Ethnic Advisory Councils. They come to us with significant professional experience and credentials. They are individuals who will be of great help in our ethnic communities," said Jesse Soriano, director of the state Office of Ethnic Affairs.

The councils meet regularly to discuss recommendations regarding the state government's outreach and services to the ethnic communities. - Sheena McFarland
