Sandy and the city's Exchange Club are hosting the 24th annual Sandy Pride Day on Saturday. From 8 a.m. to noon, volunteers are invited to participate in service projects, including a tree planting at the Sandy Amphitheater, headstone edging at the Sandy Cemetery and fence repair on New Castle Drive. At noon, the Break the Chain Foundation will hold a fundraiser for the prevention of child abuse at 9400 South and 2000 East in the parking lot between Albertsons and Home Depot. The Break-a-Thon features martial artists splitting bricks and boards with their hands. For more information, visit www.sandy.utah.gov/sandy- pride or www.breakathon .com. - Rosemary Winters
