Police have arrested a Cache County man suspected of severely injuring his infant son.

The 36-year-old North Logan man called 911 Wednesday afternoon to report his 4-month-old son wasn't breathing, said North Park police Sgt. John Italasano in a news release Sunday.

The man was the only adult at the home near 2500 North and 300 East with the baby and three other children, believed to be 18 months, 4 and 5 years old.

Paramedics took the infant to Logan Regional Medical Center, then flew him by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Doctors and police found the child had suffered internal head injuries consistent with child abuse, Italasano said. The man was arrested Friday in Salt Lake City, where the family is staying with relatives to be close to the hospitalized child.

He was booked into the Cache County jail on suspicion of three counts of aggravated child abuse.

The baby remained in critical condition on life support Sunday. The other three children are with their mother.
