A family of six from Eagle Mountain suffered only minor injuries when an Amtrak train struck their car Thursday night.

About 10 p.m., the family was at an intersection near 2100 West on 2100 North in Lehi. A witness told police the car stopped at a stop sign then began traveling west again toward the tracks, said Sgt. Jeff Swenson.

The northbound Amtrak train struck the car's front, driver quarter panel and spun the Malibu northeast, Swenson said. The conductor later told police the train was traveling about 60 mph. Swenson said the car was totaled.
