A West Valley City man was seriously injured after he tried to make a U-turn on State Road 89 in Box Elder County on Sunday, police said.
The 49-year-old was driving a Geo Metro north when he decided to turn around about 11:30 a.m. in South Willard, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden. He drove through the median, but pulled in front of a Hyundai Sonata and was hit broadside on the driver's side door, Roden said.
The Metro driver was flown to Ogden Regional Medical Center with serious head and neck injuries. His 30-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by ground ambulance. The Sonata driver, a 33-year-old Brigham City man, was taken to Ogden Regional with "moderate" injuries, Roden said.
