A 48-year-old woman was charged this week with drunken driving and shooting at another car in Uintah County.

The woman was swerving, driving in the wrong lane and starting and stopping while driving westbound on U.S. Highway 40, according to charges filed this week in 8th District Court. When another car tried to pass her, she allegedly pulled a .38 caliber revolver from the center console of her car and shot through the other driver's door.

When a Roosevelt police officer pulled the woman over, he smelled alcohol. She appeared disoriented and told the officer she thought she was in Arizona.

The officer found the gun and a spent casing, along with "numerous" prescription medications, according to the charges. She was charged with DUI, aggravated assault and attempted manslaughter, and possession of a weapon while intoxicated. She made an initial court appearance Thursday.
