A campground attendant shot and killed a black bear that wandered into a site in Utah County's Hobble Creek Canyon on Saturday.
A Division of Wildlife Resources officer told KUTV that the 2-year-old bear was inside the Balsam campground when it walked toward several families with children camping in the area.
The campground attendant, who was notified that the bear kept returning to the area, threw rocks and yelled at the animal to try to scare it away, KUTV reported. The attendant also fired a shot into the air, but when the bear did not run away and started walking toward the attendant, the attendant shot it.
