Smith's Food and Drug stores in Utah are recalling several beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The recall, announced Thursday in a statement, applies to store-brand and store-packaged beef products with sell-by dates from May 5 to May 24. They were in foam packaging trays, wrapped in clear cellophane and sold in Smith's stores' fresh meat cases.

The products include:

» ball tip steak, petite cut.

» lean 85/15 ground beef.

» ground beef less than 15 percent fat.

»cube steak.

» beef for stew.

» beef for fondue.

» beef fajita meat.

» beef for stir fry.

Anyone with these items should not consume them and may return them to a Smith's store for a refund or replacement. The recall applies to all 48 Smith's stores in Utah.

The beef in question was supplied by JBS Swift Beef Co. No illnesses have been confirmed in connection with the beef products, the statement said.
