A 22-year-old man was arrested Thursday evening after he used his Honda -- with his girlfriend and a toddler riding inside -- to ram a Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy's cruiser.
The deputy was driving south through Magna when a black Honda drove past him in the opposite direction. The deputy said he knew the driver had two outstanding warrants, including a felony, so he turned around to stop the car, according to an affidavit filed with the Salt Lake County jail.
The deputy and a second law-enforcement vehicle pursued the Honda, whose driver rammed his vehicle into a deputy's car before putting it into reverse and fleeing again. Using his vehicle, the deputy was able to pin the Honda. Methamphetamine was allegedly found in his pants pocket, according to the affidavit.
He was booked into jail on suspicion of a second-degree felony for possessing a controlled substance, a third-degree felony for aggravated assault, a third-degree felony for reckless endangerment of a child, a felony warrant for failing to stop at police command and misdemeanor charges, including DUI and fleeing.
