An 88-year-old Pleasant Grove man died late Tuesday after he was struck by a car while crossing a street.
Pleasant Grove police Lt. Clark Nielsen said Elliot C. Howe was crossing 200 South about 6 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Cedar Hills resident.
Nielsen said the driver had been waiting a long time at a stop sign on 400 East for traffic to clear so he could turn left onto 200 South. When a car traveling on 200 South stopped, the teen thought the car was yielding for him, Nielsen said.
The teen started to turn and struck Howe, who died at an area hospital at about 11:30 p.m. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian, Nielsen said.
