Federal authorities in Utah are introducing efforts to prevent the exploitation of children over the Internet.

The campaign, called Project Safe Childhood, warns adults about the legal consequences of enticing a child into sex and encourages parents to monitor kids' Internet activity. The campaign has public service advertisements on television, the Internet and print media.

U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch and U.S. Attorney for Utah Brett Tolman introduced the campaign at a news conference Tuesday. The introduction came on the same day Jonathon Cordier, 34, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing child pornography.

Cordier, of Salt Lake City, was accused of molesting a 3-year-old girl while being shown on a webcam.
