An Orem woman was arrested Wednesday after telling police she was pregnant by a 15-year-old family friend.
The 30-year-old woman's estranged husband is deployed in Iraq, and she and her 4-year-old son moved in with family friends in early September, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
Several days ago, the woman told her family friends that she'd had sex with their son and was pregnant with his child, according to the affidavit. Police were alerted by the doctor who examined her, finding her 16 weeks pregnant.
Police interviewed the 15-year-old boy, who said that around Sept. 9 he heard the woman crying in the living room. When he talked to her, he said, she asked if he would hold her, which led to kissing and fondling, according to the affidavit.
They had intercourse two nights later, he told police, and several times afterward, sometimes in the same room as her sleeping child, the affidavit states.
The woman told police the same story, but could not explain the discrepancy between her 16-week pregnancy and the date of the incident, about nine weeks ago.
She was arrested on suspicion of four counts of unlawful sex with a minor, and released without bail on Thursday with orders to have no contact with the boy or his family.
