Max Hall threw for 354 yards and No. 16 BYU rallied in the second half to defeat Air Force 38-24 at Falcon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars trailed 14-10 at halftime, but scored 21 unanswered points in the third quarter to hand the plucky Falcons (8-3) the disappointing loss, eliminating AFA from the conference title chase.
BYU receiver Austin Collie extended his consecutive games streak with more than 100 receiving yards to eight, thanks to a 45-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter that put BYU ahead by two touchdowns and ensured the Cougars' fifth-straight win over Air Force.
Collie finished with 130 receiving yards, while tight end Dennis Pitta had nine catches for 113 yards. Harvey Unga rushed 19 times for 88 yards and two TDs.
Pitta went out in the fourth quarter with what BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall called an MCL sprain. Safety/corner Andrew Rich left the game after suffering what the coach called a "bell-ringer." Guard Ray Feinga had back spasms and did not play in the second half.
Mendenhall said all three players will be evaluated Monday.
Linebacker Shawn Doman also missed the game, having suffered an appendicitis attack on Friday.
