Posted: 2:06 PM- OREM -- Uintah High junior Candace Workman won her 103-pound match against Cedar's Dallas Gale, 5-4, in the Class 3A semifinals at UVSC's McKay Events Center.

Workman becomes the first female wrestler in state history to accomplish such a feat.

"Not many women have done this before," Workman said. "So it'd be a pretty big deal. Especially in Utah, it's a lot more conservative state. Hopefully by winning the championship, maybe that will influence a lot of other girls to try it."

Workman will face Delta's Chasen Tolbert in Saturday's 4 p.m final. Tolbert has beaten Workman twice this season - once by pin, once by major decision.
